In this article, You will get 10 Spoken English Tips for Hindi Speakers.
Everyone, willing to learn spoken English asks a very important question, Is grammar necessary for spoken English?
The problem is that, in general, people start focusing on grammar, in the very beginning.
There is a common myth in people’s minds- “You need to learn proper grammar to speak good English”.
This shifts their focus from learning spoken English to mastering their grammar. And this is a common mistake that many of you might be doing before even learning spoken English.
You focus much on grammar and your obsession with grammar is too much. First of all, you want to be perfect at grammar and my friend, it is not the right way to learn spoken English.
I don’t agree with this and I have my reasons for this.
Most of us are from non-English middle-class families. Our parents speak Hindi in their day-to-day life.
Do you remember how you learned Hindi?
Well, you haven’t been taught grammar, despite this, you were so fluent in Hindi even before going to school.
How did this happen?
This happens because you were surrounded by the language and you saw people speaking Hindi. You made mistakes and you learned from them.
In this way, you were fluent in Hindi.
This technique perfectly applies to the English language.
When you are surrounded by a lot of English for a good amount of time, your mind is so sharp and beautifully designed, that it starts accumulating correct sentences or phrases.
And eventually with time, it starts learning new phases and using them in the day-to-day.
When you continue to practice consistently, grammar will automatically start to fall into place.
You will not see the change in the initial days but over time the difference will be significant.
Even if you are not surrounded by the English language, there are some steps that you need to follow to surround yourself with the English language.
Coming back to our question- Is Grammar necessary for spoken English?
Now you have your answer to the question.
You need not bother about grammar much. Also you need not mug up grammar. By mugging up, I mean, you don’t have to memorize your grammar book. Even the knowledge of basic grammar that you were taught in your schools is sufficient for learning fluent spoken English.
All you need to do is practice.
